Mmmm, nice! Well, even as a rumour i think this is a good sign, since it shows people are wanting one enough to make them up.
But since the Grandia series is no FF when it comes to popularity, i would say that the chances of it being completely made-up is low, and that theres some evidence behind it.

If it comes out, i'll buy it, and not beat it...and then sell it off to OCB, who'll beat it and then buy it off me. Tradition of the Grandia series.

Rumors about the return of Grandia

The third installment of the series might arrive this year, as North American rumors say.

I'll add that it's most likely that the game will be released on PS2 - a console with a huge RPG fanbase, rather than GC, with a smaller and younger fanbase, or Xbox, with a smaller and American-games oriented fanbase.

Also, I wouldn't relate Game Arts hiring to a game supposedly to be released this year: things take much longer than that.

Well, Grandia Xtreme was actually a quick game made to make some money rivalring battle-only/dungeon crawling games like PSO1. They took the Grandia 2 engine they had ported for PS2, probably polished it a bit, did a new town, and replaced characters and dungeons, and that's pretty much it. They just wanted to exploit the great Grandia combat system, and not that it was a bad idea, but I'm not interested in battle-only RPGs. Grandia 3 is supposed to be a real Grandia game with a long story and many towns, 50-80 hours of gameplay, and everything else...
